Champions League Review: Madrid win but Dortmund progress to final

Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos’ late strikes, were not enough, as Borussia Dortmund qualified for the final of the Champions League, despite losing 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Spanish giants lost 4-1 at the Signal Iduna Park last Wednesday, with Robert Lewandoski scoring all four goals for Jurgen Klopp’s side and needed to score three unreplied goals, to make it through.

However, despite a fast start, Jose Mourinho’s team were unable to convert their chances. The visitors also missed a couple of opportunities, before Benzema tapped in Mesut Ozil’s cross. Few moments later, the striker kept a loose ball in play and squared for Ramos to drill in his effort, giving Madrid hope. It was not to be as Dortmund held on, to book their spot at Wembley next month.
