Jose Mourinho and Chelsea  suffered their second successive loss, after the visiting Basle went away with a 2-1 victory on Wednesday night.

Oscar gave the Blues the lead in the first half, tucking Lampard’s through pass away, but the battling Basel got back on level terms in the second half, through Salah’s exquisite curler. Streller then sent the visiting fans into raptures, heading home a late winner.

Arsenal produced another fine away display to defeat Marseille 2-1 at the Stade Velodrome. The Gunners could not cut through the Ligue 1 side till the 65th minute, when Walcott volleyed home after Morela’s mistake. Aaron Ramsey continued his scorin streak with a second goal, before giving away a late penalty that Jordan Ayew converted.

Lionel Messi replicated Cristiano Ronaldo’s efforts, with a sweet hat-tick, as Barcelona whitewashed Ajax 4-0 at the Nou Camp. Last year’s finalists Dortmund were stunned 2-1 by Napoli and had both their goalkeeper and Jurgen Klopp sent off. Schalke defeated Steaua Bucharest 3-0, AC Milan left it late to claim a 2-0 win over Celtic and Atletico Madrid won Zenit 3-1.
