Champions League: Pochettino speaks on Lloris’s red card

Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino has said that goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris didn’t need to apologise to his teammates despite his red card costing Spurs in the final minutes against PSV in the Champions League.

Lloris came flying out of his goal and was red carded for bringing down Hirving Lozano ten minutes before the end of the game in Eindhoven.

Spurs were leading 2-1 at the time but conceded in the dying minutes as Luuk de Jong scored the equalizing goal.

The Frenchman was at fault in Spurs’ last Champions League clash against Barcelona but Pochettino revealed he didn’t apologise to his team-mates afterwards.

“No, why?” Metro UK quoted Pochettino as saying when asked if Lloris said sorry to his team-mates.

“He doesn’t need to apologise. Football is about making mistakes.

“It was an action in football that happens often and of course sometimes that happens.”

Spurs’ draw gave Inter Milan the upper hand to qualify alongside Barcelona in group B.

Pochettino’s men need to win all three of their remaining games in order to qualify. They face PSV at Wembley in their next fixture.
