Former Manchester United goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel, has blamed the club’s “central defenders” for the Red Devils’ 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round of 16 first leg encounter at Old Trafford.
Goals from Presnel Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappe gave Thomas Tuchel’s men all three points against Ole Gunnar Solkjaer’s side.
Schmeichel believes that the club still have centre-half issues, stressing that former Man United boss, Jose Mourinho already knew that.
Speaking on Man United’s 2-0 defeat by PSG, Schmeichel told BeIn Sports: “I don’t think anyone… you can get carried away because you’re a fan, you’re allowed to be carried away with the 10 wins in 11 games but in the broader perspective we already know Mourinho was fighting to get a centre-half or even two in the summer.
“He was doing that because there is a problem in centre-half or in central defence.
“There are a few guys out there who can do the job but that problem hasn’t gone away. “That was exploited today.”
Man United will tackle PSG in the Champions League second leg on March 6 at the Parc des Princes.
