Champions League: Mourinho sends message to Klopp ahead of Barcelona second leg

Former Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has told Jurgen Klopp to believe in the impossible when Liverpool look to overturn a 3-0 first-leg deficit in next week’s Champions League clash with Barcelona.

The Reds were blown away at the Nou Camp on Wednesday, thanks to goals from former striker Luis Suarez and a Lionel Messi brace.

Klopp’s men also missed a late chance to grab an away goal, when Mohamed Salah hit the post.

Although Mourinho admits the huge task that awaits Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday, he has urged the side to go into the match believing they can turn it around.

“He [Klopp] has to think that anything is possible in football.

“He has to think what I know he thinks – he has a very good team. He has a real team and they are going to fight until the possible is impossible,” Mourinho told RT.

On Liverpool’s chances of progressing, he continued: “When the result was 2-0, I was thinking it’s open. When they miss the late chance for the 3-1, I would say open.

“But 3-0 is 3-0, it’s hard to believe, but Barcelona have an incredibly negative experience with Roma recently.

“I know that Liverpool at Anfield is really hard, the team is good, but if Barcelona score one goal they have to concede five.

“I think it’s too much and I think the team has that appetite. Messi is dragging everyone with him with that appetite to make it happen. I think Barcelona has it.”
