Former Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, has claimed Liverpool “deserved more”, following their 3-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League.
Speaking on RT, Mourinho said Jurgen Klopp’s side were fortunate to escape Camp Nou without a worse scoreline.
Luis Suarez opened the scoring against his former club in the first half, before two late goals from Lionel Messi sealed an emphatic win.
As Liverpool attempted to find a way back into the match, Ousmane Dembele and Sergi Roberto both missed late chances, to extend Barca’s lead to put the tie beyond doubt.
“Liverpool was brave in the approach. I don’t think in the past 20 years many teams in the Champions League beat Barcelona in all possession in the Camp Nou.
“Of course they [Barcelona] have a good team, they have phenomenal players, but that player [Messi] is absolutely incredible.
“Liverpool deserves much more than the 3-0 defeat, much more, but in the last two corners of the game, it could be 4-0 or 5-0, because the game was broken and then they couldn’t cope,” Mourinho said.
