Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker, Michael Owen, has predicted some of today’s UEFA Champions League fixtures.
Chelsea will take on Dutch giants, Ajax at the Amsterdam ArenA following a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League last weekend.
Liverpool will tackle Genk at the Cristal Arena Stadium after playing a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Premier League last Sunday.
Speaking with Betfair, Owen gave his predictions thus; Ajax vs Chelsea: “Ajax are unbeaten in all competitions so far this season (W13 D4) and their last defeat came on that famous night back in May when Spurs made a dramatic late comeback in the semi-final second leg to qualify for the final in Madrid.
“The hosts have won both group games 3-0 so far this season but I feel Frank Lampard’s exciting and improving side can get a hard-earned point in the Johan Cruyff Arena.
“The Blues have not lost in their last nine away games in European competition and I expect them to pick up a valuable point in midweek.”
Genk vs Liverpool: “Genk have drawn all four of their home games in the group stages of the Champions League including a goalless draw against Napoli on Matchday two.
“Liverpool survived a scare against Salzburg to pick up three points last time but, after their reverse in Italy on the opening night, the holders do need a positive result.
“Genk lost in Liege on Saturday and currently sit third in the Belgium First Division. I think the Reds will gain a vital three points and stamp their authority on the group.”
