Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique have reportedly held secret meeting regarding Barcelona’s state after their Champions League exit last night, according to Diario Gol. The trio are the most senior players at Barcelona. Barca manager, Ernesto Valverde’s hopes of winning the UEFA Champions League came crashing last night for a second season on the bounce in similar fashion like the first.
Barca surrendered a three goal lead from the first leg contested at their home ground only to be mauled in the second leg.
In the 2017/18 season, it was an absolute debacle in Rome while this time out, Liverpool bullied the skin out of Ernesto Valverde’s man.
Valverde has taken the full blame for the defeat and has said that he remains unsure of his future.
His man management and tactics have been heavily criticized of late.
Ernesto Valverde’s favouritism of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic has hampered the chances of several players at Catalonia and the better preferred players’ fatigue starts to show at the business end of the campaign- similar to last year.
Upon hearing the thoughts of their manager, Messi, Suarez and Pique held a meeting and decided to prevent Valverde’s departure.
The players agreed that Barca must win the Copa del Rey for the manager to remain.
Barcelona have already won the league and now have a date with Valencia in the Benito Villamarin at Seville for the Copa del Rey.
The match to be contested on the 25th of May will be a do or die game for Valverde.
The three players, according to the report, agreed that should Barcelona lose that, nothing will prevent Barcelona’s board from firing Valverde.
