Champions League: Messi opens up on Barcelona’s exit against Roma, Real Madrid’s success

Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi, has described their exit from this year’s Champions League against Roma as “a big disappointment”.

The LaLiga champions carried a 4-1 first-leg lead in the quarter-finals to Rome, but were thrashed 3-0, with the hosts going through on away goals rule.

“The elimination against Roma was shit. We had one foot in the semi finals. We had a massive advantage. It was a big disappointment,” Messi told TYC Sports.

The Argentina captain also spoke about how well their domestic rivals, Real Madrid, are doing in the competition.

Zinedine Zidane’s men take on Liverpool in the final next weekend, seeking to win the trophy for a third consecutive year.

“Real Madrid’s recent Champions League success? They get it done, sometimes by playing badly.

“For us, we have to always be superior to our rivals to win,” Messi added.
