Champions League: Mbappe, Marquinhos reveal how Tuchel plotted Man Utd’s downfall

Paris Saint-Germain stars, Kylian Mbappe and Marquinhos have revealed manager Thomas Tuchel’s game plan, that saw them beat Manchester United 2-0 on Tuesday night.

The game-plan was devised with PSG going to Old Trafford without three top players: Neymar, Edison Cavani and Thomas Meunier.

Mbappe was played through the middle, while Marquinhos was moved forward from his usual central defensive role, to sit in front of the back four alongside Marco Verratti.

“It was not perfect but it is good. Perfect will be after qualification. It was a really new system with lots of midfielders and few attackers.

“Tuchel told me I was going to touch the ball a lot less. It was difficult because I am learning this position. We know they wanted to score and it was us that did it,” Mbappe told L’Equipe.

Marquinhos said: “The coach was important. It’s a coach who gives us strategies. He analyses the opponent a lot, their strengths and weaknesses.

“He had a meeting before the match that was very important. He began with the defensive side and told us that Manchester United were very strong in attack and that we should not lose possession in midfield, not to make technical mistakes.

“The coach gave us a strategy and it worked well “
