Champions League: Klopp told next thing he must do at Liverpool

Former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville has told Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, that he must win the Premier League title for the Reds after leading the club to UEFA Champions League glory last season.

Liverpool narrowly missed out on the Premier League title to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City last season despite amassing 97 points.

“There’s one thing Liverpool have to do, they have to win a Premier League title,” he said on The Gary Neville podcast.

“Jurgen Klopp’s here has been here now for three or four years, the team has been progressing season in season out.

“Last year winning the Champions League and pushing City as they did, I’ve never seen a title race like it in terms of the quality and the number of points that were amassed.

“But obviously the Premier League is the holy grail for Liverpool, they haven’t won it for such a long time.

“It’s gonna be City and them again I think. When you watch the first few weeks of the season, they look like both of them are in the same type of form, both of them are not gonna let go.

“And I have to say, from Liverpool’s point of view today that’s a really impressive performance.

“Periods of the game, the start of the game, the start of the second half, not just the start of the second half, the first 20 minutes of the second half, it was absolutely electric football.”

Liverpool are currently on nine points on the Premier League table this season after winning their first three matches.
