Champions League: Juventus eliminate Monaco, qualify for final

Mario Mandzukic and Dani Alves scored for Juventus, as they defeated Monaco 2-1 in Turin on Tuesday night, to qualify for the final of this year’s Champions League on a 4-1 aggregate.

Alves had provided the two assists for Gonzalo Higuain’s brace in the first leg and was once again the architect of the Ligue 1 club’s downfall.

The Brazilian full-back crossed for Mandzukic to score at the second time of asking. Alves himself then volleyed in the second goal, to take the tie out of Monaco’s hands.

Kylian Mbappe pulled one back in the second half, to end Juventus’ run of 520 minutes without conceding in the competition, but it was merely a consolation at the end.

Juve will now take on either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid in the final in Cardiff later this month.
