Champions League: Juventus boss, Allegri speaks on Ronaldo’s red card in 2-0 win over Valencia

Juventus manager, Max Allegri, has reacted to the red card shown his star man, Cristiano Ronaldo, during their 2-0 win over Valencia on Wednesday.

The Italian took a swipe at UEFA for failing to install VAR in Champions League matches.

The manager said that Ronaldo would not have been sent off if video technology was used.

The Italian giants still managed to win the match 2-0 away in Spain despite Ronaldo’s absence.

Miralem Pjanic scored twice from the spot to defeat Valencia.

“Today, the guys played really well, up until the red card we had many balls played towards goal, then we deservedly went ahead and after being up 2-0, as is normal, we gave up some opportunities,” he told Sky Sports.

“But when we needed to play, we played, when we needed to defend, we did well.

“The red card? I can only say that VAR would have helped the referee with his decision, because to remain a man down from the 29th minute, in a Champions League match, for a doubtful episode is displeasing.

“We hope we only lose Cristiano (Ronaldo) for as little as possible, but certainly VAR would have helped.”
