Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher has issued a warning to Barcelona striker, Luis Suarez, following Barca’s 3-0 win over Jurgen Klopp’s side in the Champions League semi-final first leg on Wednesday night at Camp Nou.
Luis Suarez scored the first goal for Barcelona in the first half before Lionel Messi scored a brace in the second half to give Ernesto Valverde’s side all three points against the Reds.
Carragher, a former teammate of Suarez during their time at Liverpool, has now warned the Uruguay international that he may not receive warm reception upon his first return to Anfield next week for the second leg tie.
Speaking on Suarez’s return to Anfield, Carragher told Viasport: “I don’t think it will be as warm as he would have hoped.
“He was Luis Suarez. You love him when he is in your team and you hate him when he plays for the opposition.
“It was the first time he was in the opposition and I don’t think Liverpool fans will have liked him.
“He plays on the edge, very street-wise. A great first goal for him but I don’t think it will be the hero homecoming he will be hoping for.”
Carragher added, “How brave they are, I just like it. And in the end it is still 3-0, it will not change. So let’s fly home and play Newcastle.”
