Champions League: How Manchester United surprised CSKA Moscow – Mourinho

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has revealed how his side was able to run over Russian giants CSKA Moscow in Wednesday night’s Champions League match in Moscow.

The former Chelsea boss said his team “surprised” the Russian side in first half to set up a 4-1 win.

The Premier League giants were 3-0 up after just 26 minutes in Russia, thanks to two goals from Romelu Lukaku and a penalty from Anthony Martial.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan added a fourth in the second half.

The Portuguese spoke with BT Sport after the game.

“We started so strong. I think we surprised them with our attitude and we killed the game. They didn’t look as good as they are, but because of us.

“For me the important thing is two matches and six points and a good position in the Champions League. Four more matches to play but we start really strong and we are almost there.

“[Lukaku] is having a great record. We know that he’s a very good player, he can score a lot of goals and playing in a team surrounded by quality players, even easier to do that.

“I have to admit that he is scoring really important goals and almost every game.

“The game adapted to [Martial’s] qualities, the way we played adapted to his qualities, too. He had lots of freedom, lots of support and lots of quality around him and I am happy. “His contribution was good and it was a pity he could not play for 90 minutes because I was ready to let him on the pitch for the whole game,”‎ he said.
