Champions League: Higuain’s double gives Juventus advantage over Monaco

Gonzalo Higuain scored twice, as Juventus defeated Monaceo 2-0, to put the Serie A champions in control of their Champions League semi-final tie.

The Argentina striker, who cost €90million last summe, has been prolific as Juve pursue a sixth straight Italian title, but has found it difficult to shine on the continent.

His first goal was the final touch from a wonderful team move, which ended in Dani Alves back-heeling a pass into his path. Higuain calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

Monaco had chance, but Kylian Mbappe could not add to his impressive goal tally.

Tiemoue Bakayoko lost possession in his own half, which led to the visitors breaking swiftly down the right and Alves again finding Higuain, who slid in to make it 2-0.

Ahead of the second leg in Turin, Juventus are now favourites to take on Real Madrid in the final next month in Cardiff.
