Champions League finals: Keown reveals one advantage Real Madrid have over Liverpool

Former Arsenal star, Martin Keown has revealed that Real Madrid has one major advantage over Liverpool ahead of the Champions League final.

The two teams qualified for the Champions League finals scheduled for May 26 in Kiev.

Real Madrid knocked out Bayern Munich in Tuesday’s Champions League second leg semi-final tie with a 4-3 aggregate, while Liverpool also sent out Roma with a 7-6 aggregate on Wednesday night.

Keown said he would ‘love’ to see Liverpool win the Champions League title but, however, admits that Real Madrid will make their experience count and complete a hat-trick of Champions League title in three consecutive seasons.

Keown told Daily Mail, “I would love to see Liverpool win the Champions League.

“What they are doing is great for football but it is so hard to bet against Real Madrid.

“This is their fourth Champions League final in five years.

“They keep finding a way to get the job done and have beaten some really good teams along the way.

“Had these sides met over two legs, I would have given Liverpool a better chance. Jurgen Klopp’s side could have taken Madrid apart at Anfield.

“But a one-off game in Kiev will be different. To say Real Madrid are more experienced at handling finals is an understatement, this game is becoming an annual date in the diary for them.

“How many major finals have these Liverpool players been involved in?.

“As a player in your first final, there is a lot to deal with. The build-up takes forever, you have to be on the pitch earlier than normal, it feels different to a normal match.

“For the Real Madrid players, it will be a case of “there we go again”.
