Champions League: Draxler speaks on PSG’s chances of winning trophy following defeat from Live

Paris Saint-Germain forward, Julian Draxler has stated that his team should have beaten Liverpool at Anfield if they wanted to win the UEFA Champions League this season.

Liverpool were two goals ahead by half-time through a goal by Daniel Sturridge and James Milner’s penalty.

But the French champions appeared to be back in the game as Thomas Meunier and Kylian Mbappe struck in the second half.

However, Roberto Firmino scored Liverpool’s winning goal in injury time to secure a 3-2 victory for Klopp’s side in their opening game in Group C.

Draxler believes that PSG would have picked three points against the Reds in front of their home fans for them to have confidence of winning this season’s Champions League.

“We did not start very well. Liverpool led 2-0 but we also know it’s hard to score two goals here,’ Draxler said after the game,” Metro UK quoted him as saying.

“We deserved the draw but we recognise that Liverpool are a very strong team and Firmino showed that in the last few minutes.

“In the first half we lacked aggressiveness.

“If you want to win the Champions League you have to take three points here and be more cunning.

“But I am proud of the team and I hope we will do better in front of our supporters in Paris.”
