Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde has revealed that his side are happy to have avoided Premier League giants, Liverpool in the Champions League round of 16 draw.
Valverde stated this following the conclusion of the Champions League last 16 draw held on Monday.
Recall that the draw was released yesterday in Nyon, Switzerland.
Valverde’s men will tackle French Ligue 1 side, Lyon in the knockout stages in February, 2019.
“We are pleased with the Round of 16 draw. We wanted to avoid a rival like Liverpool, the current runners-up in Europe,” Valverde was quoted by RAC1 as saying.
“Lyon will not be easy, as they have been able to compete for top spot in the group stages at Manchester City.”
Barcelona will tackle Celta Vigo in the La Liga fixture on Saturday evening.
