Champions League: Dortmund, Legia create new record, Real Madrid beat Sporting Lisbon

Karim Benzema scored the winner in the ‘Cristiano Ronaldo Derby’, as Real Madrid beat Sporting Lisbon 2-1 in Portugal.

Raphael Varane gave the reigning European champions the lead in the first half, but an 80th minute penalty from Adrien Silva pulled the hosts level.

However, Benzema scored to ensure Zinedine Zidane’s men can still finish top of Group F.

Tottenham crashed out of the Champions League, after a 2-1 loss at Monaco. Hugo Lloris saved Radamel Falcao’s penalty, before Djibril Sidibe eventually opened scoring for the hosts. Harry Kane converted his spot-kick, after Dele Alli was fouled in the area. But 38 seconds later, Thomas Lemar fired home the deciding goal.

In other games, history was created as Borussia Dortmund beat Legia Warsaw 8-4 in a crazy game of football. It is the first time 12 goals have been scored in a single Champions League match.

Leicester City have qualified for the next round, after they won Club Brugge 2-1, CSKA Moscow drew 1-1 with Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon grabbed a 1-0 away win at FC Copenhagen.

Juventus saw off 10-man Sevilla 3-1 in Seville.
