Atletico Madrid captain, Diego Godin has blamed the club’s forwards, Alvaro Morata and Antoine Griezmann, following his side’s Champions League 3-0 defeat to Juventus on Tuesday night.
Cristiano Ronaldo netted a stunning hat-trick as Juventus defeated Atletico Madrid 3-0 and qualified for the quarter-final of the Champions League.
Juventus came into the tie trailing 2-0 to Atletico Madrid from the first leg at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Godin has now blamed Morata and Griezmann for failing to score a goal against the hosts, adding that Diego Simeone’s men were poor in attack.
“We couldn’t find a way to hurt them,” Godin was quoted by Metro UK as saying at post-match.
“We defended but conceded goals. We didn’t look like scoring a goal, which was needed for the tie.
“We weren’t surprised by Juve at all. We knew it’d be a difficult match, against tough opponents who would play.
“They defended well and attacked well. They were careful and smart, while we couldn’t find the goal we needed.”
