Champions League: Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar set to battle for new record

Real Madrid superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Paris Saint-Germain star, Neymar are set to battle for a new Uefa Champions League (UCL) record.

The two world top forwards have a new record in their sights with one game left in the UCL group stages, after both Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo scored in each of the first five match days.

If Ronaldo scores against Dortmund and the Neymar nets against Bayern Munich, they would become the first players to record such a feat of scoring in all six group stage games in the history of Champions League.

No football player has ever done so in the Europe’s elite competition, despite its illustrious past.

Ronaldo is the current top goalscorer in the competition with eight goals, while the world’s most expensive footballer has six.

Both the French club and the Spanish club are guaranteed to qualify for the next round, with Real Madrid likely to settle for second at the same time as PSG face a play-off for top spot against Bayern Munich after they beat them 3-0 in Paris, thanks to a goal from Neymar.

No team has scored as many as PSG have in the group stage of the Champions League, with the tally already at 24 goals.
