Veteran Juventus defender, Giorgio Chiellini has accused Real Madrid’s players of “paying” English referee Michael Oliver during their Champions League exit at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Juventus were looking to overturn a 3-0 defeat from the first leg in Turin and got off to a flying start as Mario Mandzukic struck twice in the first half.
French midfielder, Blaise Matuidi scored in the second half to level the tie and it appeared to be heading to extra time before Mehdi Benatia fouled Lucas Vazquez inside the box.
Juventus players were furious with Oliver’s decision and Gianluigi Buffon was sent off for his angry protests.
Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up to convert the penalty and book Madrid’s place in Friday’s Champions League semi-final draw.
Chiellini, who does not know much of English, expressed his anger over Oliver’s penalty decision and television replays caught the Juventus defender making a money gesture towards Madrid’s players and saying “you pay, you pay.”
He also got in Ronaldo’s face with a similar gesture telling him “you pay, you pay” you pay,” just before the Portugal captain took Madrid’s penalty.
