Celta Vigo vs Real Madrid: How Zidane described Gareth Bale

Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane has described Winger Gareth Bale as an ‘important player’ in his squad, ahead of the Los Blancos’ La Liga opener against Celta Vigo on Saturday at the Balaidos Stadium.

Zidane also said he will count on the former Tottenham Hotspur star this season, adding that the forward has a good record at Real Madrid.

“It seemed Bale was leaving and now he’s here with us. The dynamics and things change, but I will count on him, Zidane was quoted by Real Madrid’s official website as saying on Friday in his pre-match press conference.

“He has a good record and is an important player and I hope that all the players want to make it difficult for me to pick the team.”

DAILY POST had reported that Bale is surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu following Zinedine Zidane’s return as manager.

The Wales international was among eleven players Real Madrid want to sell in this summer’s transfer window.

In July, Bale had agreed a deal to move to China with Jiangsu Suning but Madrid refused to let him leave without a significant transfer fee.

The 29-year-old is under contract with the La Liga giants until 2022, and has won four Champions League titles at Real Madrid as well as one La Liga crown.
