Renowned cleric and president of the Christian Association of Nigeria President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, on Wednesday rubbished the ceasefire deal between the Federal Government and the leadership of the Islmaist outlawed sect, Boko Haram.

Oritsejafor, while speaking with newsmen on the development noted that the ceasefire deal won’t work because the violent group had been factionalised.

Earlier in the week, the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges in the North, Mr. Kabiru Turaki, SAN, had announced the ceasefire deal.

Reacting to the development, the CAN President said, “Which Boko Haram? There have been all manner of people that claim to be Boko Haram. Now there are two groups, the Shekau group and Ansaru group, have you heard from them?

“Even if one person says, I want peace, I drop my weapons, we will be happy, but I still ask: which Boko Haram because we have seen situations in the past where they told us that some people wanted truce and the next day we saw people being killed.”

The cleric, while calling on religious fundamentalists to thread carefully in the peace deal, vowed to use the fresh mandate given to him by the Christian body to rigorously search for peace in the country.
