The Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, has called on Nigerian leaders and Politicians to develop programmes and policies that would better the lot of their people, adding that it was either they build people or the same people they neglected to amass wealth would turn against them.
Badeh gave the advice on Friday, when the Support Our Troops Foundation presented 3,000 books to the Defence Headquarters for distribution to the libraries of military schools, in Abuja.
CDS opined that terrorism was a product of hopelessness, when “people feel that life does not worth it”.
“As our democracy grows, I think our leaders, particularly at the state level will see that it is better you take care of the people, otherwise, they could revolt against you, and what has happened with this Boko Haram is a kind of revolution, driven by hopelessness,” he said.
He maintained that the Nigerian troops were very much on course in the war against terrorism in the north east, calling for public support.
According to him: “Very soon, what is happening in the north east, we won’t say it will be history, but we will overcome all the major ones, what will be left are those left to criminality.’’
