The Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, has just stood down the ongoing trial of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki until 12:30 pm.
Chairman of the tribunal, Danladi Umar made the declaration following an oral application by a member of the prosecution counsel, H.O.P. Ijika.
Ijika prayed the tribunal to stand down the trial for one hour due to the absence of the lead prosecution counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, SAN, who he said was attending to other matters, but will join up shortly.
Counsel to the Senate President, Paul Usoro SAN, however, did not object to the oral motion. This was as he prayed the tribunal to stand down the matter till 12.30pm.
“My lord in view of the motion by then young counsel, I will appeal for a stand down till 12:30pm.”
Saraki is currently standing trial at the tribunal on a 16-count charge of false asset declaration.
