CBN pledges support for Agriculture in Ogun State

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has expressed it’s willingness to grant necessary support in resuscitating agricultural farms in Ogun State.

Mr. Bade Odusote who led the inspection team of the CBN to the state made this known while on a tour to Apoje Farm Company Limited, a subsidiary of Ogun State Agricultural Development Corporation (OGSADC) at Ijebu Igbo.

Odusote expressed satisfaction over the level of improvement of the farm, adding that the CBN was ready to assist and give financial support in order to boost the farm production and ensure more food supply to the country.

He said a palm plantation at Apoje has lots of capabilities and potentials but required desired support to attain its objectives, promising that the bank would render needed financial support.”We are ready to support the State Government towards the provision of funds in developing agricultural products and equipments in Apoje Farms”. Odusote said

The permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Steve Ipiniwa said the collaboration of the State Government with the CBN would resuscitate the farm in not more than a year, adding that the approach of the government was to change things for better.

According to him, “Let me state here that his Excellency, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has made good his promise to invite people who will proffer solution to some of our problems, which is the reason behind the CBN visitation to harness areas of opportunity which I believed in not more than a year this farm would be revolutionized,” Ipinniwa said

The Senior Special Assistant on Agriculture, to the State Governor, Mr. Semiu Alao emphasized that the CBN’s intervention at resuscitating Apoje farm would make Ogun State agricultural hub of the country’s agriculture.

Mr. Alao added that issues such as unemployment and dwindling Internally Generated Revenue IGR would be things of the past as youth employment and revenue generation would be guaranteed.
