Casillas tells De Gea to join him at Real Madrid

Real Madrid goalkeeper, Iker Casillas, has called on David De Gea, to leave Manchester United and join him at the Santiago Bernabeu next season.

De Gea has been heavily linked with a move back to La Liga and Madrid are believed to view the 24-year-old as Casillas’ successor.

United are desperately trying to tie him down to a new contract, as his current deal expires next year.

But manager Louis van Gaal admitted that the former Atletico Madrid stopper may leave.

Casillas, who has been with Madrid since 1990, has now encouraged the younger Spaniard to make the switch.

When asked if he would like De Gea to join Real, he said, “Of course I would.”

The 34-year-old, however, refused to speak on the future of Madrid manager, who could take charge for the last time on Saturday.
