The five goalkeepers on FIFA’s shortlist for FIFPro World XI 2014 have been announced.
Manuel Neuer, Iker Casillas, Thibaut Courtois, Gianluigi Buffon and Claudio Bravo are the shot stoppers who have made the cut.
Bayern Munich’s Neuer is hot favourite to win, after clinching the Bundesliga title and DFB Pokal, before lifting the World Cup with Germany.
Courtois played a significant role, as Atletico Madrid won the La Liga title, while Buffon was an ever present figure, as Juventus won another Serie A title.
Chile’s Bravo impressed with Real Sociedad and his country at Brazil 2014 and earned himself a move to Barcelona. Casillas is the surprise inclusion, as his star seems to have waned in recent years.
Neuer won the prize last year, but before then Casillas took home the gong in the five previous editions.
