Former Liverpool captain, Jamie Carragher, has claimed Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, is repeating the same mistake at Old Trafford, which he made at Chelsea and Real Madrid.
Mourinho is under increased pressure, following United’s woeful display in their 3-1 defeat to West Ham on Saturday.
Mourinho has already been at the centre of a disagreement with Anthony Martial during pre-season and told Paul Pogba last week, that he would never wear the captain’s armband again.
Carragher believes that Mourinho has lost the dressing room because of his decision to criticise players in front of their teammates.
“From the last two games I’ve seen, they [Manchester United] were not far short from disgraceful performances.
“I have no doubt from his comments today in the press conference when he said some players are trying harder than others that he’s lost the dressing room.
“The problem with that is that it’s the third time it’s happened.
“It started with Real Madrid with [Iker] Casillas and [Sergio] Ramos. It happened at Chelsea with [Eden] Hazard and players there. United have suffered their worst start to a league season in 29 years.
“Now there’s talk of a group led by Pogba, so there’s no doubt there’s massive problems there.
“I had a conversation with Jose Mourinho after he left Chelsea, he was the manager of the Soccer Aid team for the charity game.
“The big thing he said he learnt from Chelsea was that you couldn’t single out a player in a meeting in front of the other players, the players just don’t accept this now.
“But it looks as if he’s gone back to that, or still doing that, at Manchester United.
“He stripped Pogba of the captaincy, which I agreed with, but it was in front of the players.
“The players don’t want that now. That’s why he’s lost the dressing room, and it’s not the first time,” Carragher told SkySports.
