Former Liverpool stars, Jamie Carragher and Jamie Redknapp have showered praise on England’s front three after a stunning first-half performance during a 3-2 win against Spain in Seville on Monday.
Gareth Southgate’s men were in an outstanding form, with Raheem Sterling scoring twice and Marcus Rashford scoring the final goal as they put Luis Enrique’s men to the sword during a flowing 45 minutes and they led 3-0 during the halftime.
Liverpool legends Carragher and Redknapp were stunned by the displays of the goalscorers and main striker Harry Kane, who played a key role in each of the goals.
“The front three have caused them so many problems,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
‘Sterling, Kane, they’ve been amazing in this first half. Rashford, as well putting the icing on the cake.
“England have been brilliant, I’ve been so impressed. It’s been devastating stuff.”
Carragher added: “This is the Raheem Sterling we see week in week out in the Premier League. We said before the show it’s like watching a different player.
“The wide players are now playing very narrow, I think that’s helped tonight in terms of the goals they’ve scored and the positions they’ve taken up.
“Harry Kane, what a performance Harry Kane has had. Great centre-forward play.
“The front three, even Harry Kane without a goal have been outstanding.”
Spain tried to mount a comeback in the second half with Paco Alcacer and Sergio Ramos getting on the scoresheet but the Three Lions held on.
