Carpenter docked over alleged criminal breach of trust, cheating

A 33-year-old carpenter, Samson Madubiko on Wednesday appeared in a Kado Grade 1 Area court in the FCT for alleged criminal breach of trust and cheating.

Madubiko, who resides in Jahi 2, Abuja, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.

The Judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 and a surety in like sum.

Sadiq said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the matter till March 2, for further hearing.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Salisu Khaleel told the court that one Emeka Chukwuma of Ishaya Shakari Crescent, Abuja, reported the matter at Gwarimpa Police Station on Jan. 29

Khaleel said that the defendant collected some furniture worth N110, 000 and a sum of N38, 000 from the complainant.

He said that the furniture and money were to be used in constructing a television stand, centre table, reading table, among others.

According to him, the accused absconded with the money and furniture which he converted to his personal use.

The prosecutor said the crime was punishable under Section 312 and 322 of the Penal Code law. (NAN)
