Arsene Wenger has explained how he was mocked by the fourth official during Arsenal’s humiliating defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

Wenger said he was mocked when he demanded for time from the referee in the game.

The Frenchman was furious that referee Craig Pawson had only allocated three minutes of added time for the contest, despite there being five substitutes and two goals during the second half.

When he raised the issue with fourth official Graham Scott, Wenger saw his concerns were brushed away.

Scot asked the Gunners boss why he would want the play to go on in such a one-sided contest.

Wenger explained to reporters, “The ref doesn’t give the injury time.

“When I said ‘why don’t you give more time?’ he asked me ‘why do I want more time?’

“I said ‘its not down to you to judge how much time.”

Wenger had earlier blamed the officials for allowing a “100%” offside Vincent Kompany goal, which he said was a major turning point in the game.
