Carabao Cup: VAR to be used for Arsenal vs Chelsea

Video Assistant Referees (VAR) will be used for the Carabao Cup semi-final between Arsenal and Chelsea.

The London rivals will meet in the semi-finals of the competition next month.

Arsenal saw off West Ham 1-0 on Tuesday night, before Chelsea beat Bournemouth 2-1 a day after.

The EFL have confirmed VAR will be used for the first time in the competition when Arsenal travel to Stamford Bridge on January 10.

The second-leg at the Emirates and the Wembley final on February 25, will also involve video assistant referees.

Carabao Cup schedule Tuesday January 9 – Manchester City vs Bristol City (7:45pm) Wednesday January 10 – Chelsea vs Arsenal (8pm) Tuesday January 23 – Bristol City vs Manchester City (7:45pm) Wednesday January 24 – Arsenal vs Chelsea (8pm) Sunday February 25 – Carabao Cup final
