Carabao Cup final: Manchester City defeat Chelsea, retain trophy

Manchester City have won this year’s Carabao Cup, following a 4-3 penalty shoot-out victory over Chelsea, in the final played at Wembley on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola’s men won the trophy last season and were confident of lifting it again, especially after their 6-0 thumping of the Blues in the Premier League weeks ago.

However, there were no goals in 120 minutes of action and the match had to be decided via spot kicks.

Jorginho and David Luiz missed from 12 yards, as Maurizio Sarri failed to win his first piece of silverware as a manager.

Chelsea will take on Tottenham Hotspur next in the league on Wednesday.
