Chelsea have suffered a major injury blow as its midfielder, Ruben Loftus-Cheek reportedly suffered a fresh injury setback that will keep him out of the Blues’ midweek Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool.
According to The Telegraph, the England international will not be included in Chelsea’s squad to face Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday evening in the EFL Cup tie.
The report claimed that the midfielder had an injection before Chelsea’s 0-0 draw with West Ham in the Premier League last weekend, keeping him out for around a week.
Loftus-Cheek was back on the bench for Maurizio Sarri’s side during their Europa League encounter with PAOK, having not previously been involved since the 2-0 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League on September 1.
The 22-year-old has not started a game for the Stamford Bridge club so far into the new campaign.
Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri has however featured the likes of Mateo Kovacic, Ross Barkley, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho ahead of Loftus-Cheek in a three-man midfield.
