The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to cancel the result of the presidential elections for Lagos State, accusing the All Progressives Congress, APC, of manipulating the exercise.
The state Chairman of the PDP, Mr. Tunji Shelle, made this call while addressing a press conference at its party secretariat in Lagos.
Shelle also accused INEC officials of cooperating with the APC to manipulate the outcome of the elections, which, he said, affected the chances of the party.
The Lagos PDP boss alleged that figures were “brazenly manufactured and conjured to favour the APC.”
“We hereby reject outright all the established manipulated results and the concocted victory given in favour of APC in Lagos State. We demand immediate justice and the prompt cancellation of all concocted APC kangaroo victory and the immediate restoration of all genuine and untarnished results from the various polling units as nothing else will do.
“We are protesting in the strongest terms the deliberate and unconscionable complicity of INEC officials with the APC in Lagos State to thwart and reverse the popular will of the people of Lagos State in the presidential and parliamentary elections.”
According to Shelle, INEC officials were compromised especially in the distribution and allocation of the Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs.
He said the distribution of PVCs was “skewed in favour of the stronghold of the APC in Lagos and beyond to the detriment of PDP. Non-indigenes in Lagos were openly disenfranchised and denied the right to collect their PVCs, hence majority were unable to vote.”
“Virtually everywhere we won a clear and verifiable victory; presiding INEC officials openly colluded with the APC to sabotage and deny PDP candidates victory. Among the local government areas where anomalies were recorded are Badagry, Epe, Eti-Osa and Apapa.”
