World football governing body FIFA on Thursday appointed Walter Gagg from Switzerland as observer for the Oct. 13 Brazil 2014 Playoff fixture between Ethiopia and Nigeria.

Ademola Olajire, Assistant Director (Media), Nigeria Football Association (NFA), disclosed this in a statement released in Abuja.

The match is the first leg game in the 2014 World Cup Qualifiers’ final elimination round.

The match has been scheduled for Addis Ababa, with the second leg game fixed for Nov. 16 in Calabar.

The statement said FIFA had also confirmed that the match would kick off at 4 p.m. Ethiopian time, and 2 p.m. Nigerian time.

It further said FIFA had appointed a Cameroonian referee, Neant Alioum, to take charge of the potentially-explosive game.

“The referee will be assisted by compatriots Evarist Menkouande, Yanoussa Moussa and Henry Kalla as Assistant Referee 1, Assistant Referee 2 and Fourth Official respectively,’’ the statement added.

“Also, Egyptian Essam Siam will be the Referees Assessor, while Wilfred Mukuna from Zimbabwe will be the Match Commissioner and Kenya’s Nicholas Musonye will act as Security Officer for the match.’’
