Head coach of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma, has said Emeka Ogbugh’s missed penalty against Club Africain, denied his side a chance of producing a late comeback, in their 3-1 loss to Club Africain of Tunisia in Match Day 1 of the CAF Confederations Cup Group A clash.
The Pride of Rivers wasted a chance to reduce the deficit to 3-2 with 11 minutes left following goals, from Bilel Ifa and Oussama Darragi and an own goal from Joseph Douhadji that gave Club Africain a 3-1 lead.
“We did not find our feet in the first half and conceded two goals,” Eguma said during his post match press conference.
“In the second half, we corrected our mistakes and scored a goal.
“We got a penalty and if we had converted it, it would have made a lot of difference as my boys would have pushed for the equalizer.”
Rivers the United are currently third in group A, behind FUS Rabat and Club Africain.
They host FUS Rabat of Morocco in their next game on May 24.
