Former Super Eagles coach, Christian Chukwu has charged Enyimba and Warri Wolves, to prepare adequately for next season’s CAF club competitions, by recruiting best players.
Chukwu was speaking to CompleteSportsNigeria after TP Mazembe were defeated by Sanfreece Hiroshima in the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan.
“Representing Africa is not enough. We should have representatives who can win too, or at least reach the final,” he said.
“TP Mazembe is a big African club, I didn’t watch the match, so I can’t comment about their performance, but a 3-0 defeat means that their opponents were dominant.
“As Enyimba and Warri Wolves aim to win the competition next year, I will implore them to recruit very well. The state governments must also support them in any way possible”, he said.
Chukwu also added that it was high time a Nigerian club won another CAF club competition.
“It’s been long Enyimba won the CAF Champions League, we need another winner. Same attitude and preparations must also be the case with the Confederation Cup representatives,” he said.
