Rangers International FC of Enugu have invited six foreign players for trial ahead of their 2016/2017 Confederation African Football Champions League campaign.
Rangers’ Media Director, Foster Chime, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the invited players would join Rangers in their ongoing pre-season camping in Benin, Edo.
Chime told NAN in Enugu on Monday that the players were mostly from top African clubs.
According to Chime, the fresh legs to be injected in the team are part of the initiatives to solidify Rangers ahead of the CAF Champions League.
“We have already invited six players that are coming for trial and they will be playing with the team in our ongoing pre-season camp in Benin.
“The technical coaching crew will assess individual players on their ability to blend with the team and also consider other factors during the camp duration.
“Any of the players, who has what the team needs, now by the assessment of the technical coaching crew, would likely make the team after the camping.
“This also means that those co-opted would be signed as our players at the end of the day,’’ he said.
Chime, however, did not disclose the criteria for the assessment of the invited players.
He said that the ongoing camping was running smoothly without hitch.
Rangers are also expected to defend their Nigeria Professional Football League title and participate in the National Federation Cup in the 2016/2017 football season.
