Head coach of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma, has said that their CAF Champions League tie against Al-Merreikh is not over, despite their 3-0 win the first leg, first round game played at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
Guy Kuemain scored a brace for the Port Harcourt club, while Esosa Igbinoba also found the back of the net, as the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side romped to victory.
“We had fatigue in the second half because of the wears and tears of the league,” Eguma said afterwards.
“We tried our best to see how we could score more goals. I think that three goals in a game is not a bad result.”
Eguma insists his team will be cautious in the second leg in Sudan.
He said: “We will fashion out a formation and strategy on how to see that we are cautious. While we try to get a spoiler goal, we will be very cautious not to concede goals.
“It’s not yet over and we will take it from there.”
