Chairman of Enyimba FC, Felix Anyasi-Agwu, has congratulated his players for qualifying from the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
The Nigeria Premier League side defeated Buffles du Borgou 4-0 on aggregate, to progress into the next round.
Anyasi-Agwu praised the players for putting in an impressive performance in the return leg and urged them to begin preparations for their first-round match.
“We are happy that we have achieved our objective. I had already stated that with what I saw of Buffles in the first leg in Aba that they won’t beat us in Cotonou and I am very happy that my players have vindicated me by beating them in their backyard,” Anyansi-Agwu said.
“We must forget about this win because we have equally important matches to play ahead in the coming days. The next two weeks will be very crucial for us as a club because we have two important matches that we must win well to show that we are ready for the season. We are going to play against Akwa United and then face the Egyptian club in Aba also in the first leg of the first round tie.
“We must not be distracted by the victory as we set our sights on more important things ahead. We know we can go all the way but we must ensure we do everything with proper decorum and courtesies.”
