Bye-election: Ribadu’s opponents in PDP are enemies of Adamawa state – Group

A group, Concerned Youths for Good Governance in Adamawa State, has described those kicking against the purported ambition of former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu to contest as Governor under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as enemies of the state.

In a press statement signed by its chairman, Alhaji Isa Ibrahim Toungo in Yola, the Association said any one or group, opposing Ribadu was only intimidated by Ribadu’s credentials.

The statement reads: “Our attention has been drawn to a campaign of calumny against the person and ambition of the much respected Mallam Nuhu Ribadu orchestrated by some spent-forces who felt intimidated by our recent call on Ribadu to dump his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and contest for the governorship of Adamawa state under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“We are particularly irked by reports in the media quoting anonymous sources, obviously politicians too intimidated to come out in the open, to the effect that Nuhu Ribadu is not welcome in the PDP or that Ribadu would be imposed on the party from Abuja.”

It added that the sentiments being exhibited by those against Ribadu were baseless as they completely negate the policy and philosophy of the PDP whose aim was to promote massive participation.

DailyPost recalls that the PDP state chairman, Chief Joel Madaki, and some chieftains had publicly disapproved the alleged moves by the former police officer to join the party.

According to them, no “stranger” from another party would be allowed to join the party and “reap where he did not sow”.

Presently, the leading aspirants on the platform of the party include a former Military Administrator of Lagos State, Brig-General Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd) Barrister Awwal Dahiru Tukur, son of former National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur and Ahmed Gulak, ex-predisential aide on poltical affairs.
