Bursar, husband, protocol officer arrested over alleged kidnap

The Bursar of the University of Calabar, Mrs. Beatrice Igwe and her husband, Mr Igwe and the Protocol Officer of the Institution have been arrested for alleged plans to kidnap the wife and daughter of the Vice Chancellor (VC) of the institution.

Though, the alleged kidnap was yet to be fully executed, but the Police Public Relation Officer, ASP Irene Ugbo confirmed the arrest of the suspects, explaining that the police acted fast on receiving the information.

She said that the attempted kidnap was true and the men of the Nigerian Police were swif to rescue the victims.

“My team were quick enough to address the situation when alerted. And the culprits are in our custody until further investigations are being carried out.

“Mrs. Igwe, her husband and the protocol officer have been sending threatening messages to Mrs. Akpagu, the VC’s wife on different occasions. The VC, Prof. Zana Akpagu has acknowledged that his wife has been receiving threat messages”, the police claimed.

As of the time of this report, DAILY POST was yet to speak with the suspects to get their own side of the story.
