Burning 7-year-old boy to death an embarrassment to Nigeria – Annie Idibia, Mercy Johnson

Renowned Nollywood actresses, Mercy Johnson and Annie Idibia have waded into the the jungle justice reportedly meted on a boy in the Badagry area of Lagos State for allegedly attempting to steal garri from a trader’s shop.

Although the police had refuted claims the incident happened in the state and had appealed to Lagosians to help them identify the culprits in the brutal murder of the young boy, , it has continued to spark up controversy in the social media.

The boy, who viral reports say was seven-year-old, was burnt to death.

The photos and videos of the young boy as he was being beaten and burnt to death by a mob made the rounds in the early hours of Tuesday.

He was said to have been nabbed while trying to break into a shop where foodstuff are sold.

Some unidentified men in the area nabbed him and reportedly descended on him.

They beat him to a pulp before hanging a tire on his neck and setting him ablaze.

But as concerned citizens, the actresses have describing the act as barbaric and an embarrassment to the country.

On her Instagram page @annieidibia1, the mother of two wrote: “Some say he’s 7, some 20… Does it matter? ???? This image gave me sleepless night till really late!

“All I know is, this is soooooo wrong on every single level! Jungle Justice should be STOPPED in this country!!!

“Please the government should not let this pass like the rest…If he is 7,then may the pple responsible for this never find peace in this life time,i am a mother,my heart is sadden!And even if he is 20 or 30..

“This is still very wrong and embarrassing to our country that this still happens in 2016???

“I plead with the rulers of this nation ,plssssss do something about jungle justice… this has got to be STOPPED. BLACKLIFEMATTERS.

“Am sooooo maddddddd I can’t even …. Oh my God!!!! I just watched the video on YouTube! !! Some humans aren’t really human,” she added.

The ‘Dumebi ’ thespian, Mercy Johnson, @mercyjohnsonokojie, on her part, wrote: “Live so that when your children think of fairness, caring and integrity, they think of you because children are the keys of paradise.

“How can anyone possibly do this to a child, wherever this happened?

“I condemn this cruelty as every child is my child. #everychildisurchild#”
