Nigerian Army has converted the deadly Falgore forest in Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State into a training ground.

Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, made the disclosure yesterday when he visited and patrolled the notorious forest alongside Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Buratai said the take over was to forestall further criminal activities and that henceforth, young officers and men of the Nigerian Army would receive trainings there.

“We have provided all necessary facilities needed for training in the forest. A borehole was also drilled for constant water supply,” he said.

He assured that the Army would ensure that Falgore forest is free of kidnapping, cattle rustling, armed robbery and other nefarious acts.

“We are concurrently carrying out operations Harbin Kunama 1 in Zamfara State, Harbin Kunama 2 in Southern Kaduna and Kano State and Crocodile Smile in the South-south, as part of our efforts to secure the country from the activities of criminal elements”.

“I can assure you that we are recording tremendous successes. We have arrested several criminals and recovered several weapons. We thank the Kano State government for its support”.

Responding, Governor Ganduje, commended the officers and men for securing the forest.

Ganduje said the state government had donated 16 Hilux vans to the Nigerian Army for effective patrol of the area.
