Bullion van knocks man to death in Delta

A bullion van has knocked down a 42-years-old man, Julius Umukoro in Ughelli, Delta State.

DAILY POST reports that the bullion van was allegedly driving against traffic along the Ughelli-Isoki road by Ighwre-Ovie axis.

It was in the process of overtaking another vehicle that it rammed into the deceased on his motorcycle who was coming at the time.

An eyewitness who craved anonymity said the fatal accident would have been avoidable if not for the carelessness of the bullion van driver.

DAILY POST learnt that the victim, a native of Akperhe-Olomu in Ughelli South Area died instantly as his limbs and skull were shattered and mangled in a horrible and terrific manner.

In a chat with DAILY POST, brother of the deceased, Comrade Jonathan Obrogor said that the accident had caused serious grief across Olomu kingdom.

Obrogor in a tearful voice described his deceased brother as a good and jovial young vibrant Orator known across Urhoboland.

“Umukoro was killed by the reckless driver. I could not bear the pain when I saw my brother in the pool of his blood.

“The Olomu kingdom is in mourning, his wife and children are crying uncontrollably. We will be meeting the bank officials at noon to discuss.

“We want justice to be done, we call on the government to check the excesses of these bank drivers.” Obrogor stated.

At the time of filing this report, charred remains of raincoat, helmet, blood and fleshy human parts still littered the scene of incident as passersby laid curses on the driver of the bullion van.

The remains of Umukoro have also been deposited in a morgue.
