Building of 14 schools: “Amaechi has questions to answer” – Wike

The Minister of state for Education, Nyesom Wike has responded to allegations of corruption levelled against him by the Rivers state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.

Governor Amaechi had during his tour to Obio-Akpor Local government area disclosed that the contract to build fourteen schools in the area was given to the Minister, Wike, which he failed to execute.

However, Nyesom Wike questioned why the Rivers state Governor will make him the Director General of his governorship re-election in 2011 despite his alleged corrupt tendencies.

He denied taken any contract from the Rivers state Governor, insisting that he did not embezzle any fund.

He also threatened to make public, documents of the proposed Landscaping of Port Harcourt.

Wike told Amaechi to explain to Rivers people what happened to the Landscaping of Port Harcourt and to the Anti-Mosquito spraying projects initiated in 2010.

“How I wish that truly he gave me, I will be happy.

“You never can tell, maybe he is mistaking me for the whole jobs his wives and concubines took away

“Now, let me state this clearly; there was never a time that he gave me 14 schools. One, it will be a credit to me. Then let him mention those schools in those communities I took away.

“If at all he gave me 14 schools , how did he give me. Did he give me the money. I was not the Commissioner for Education.

“He gave me 14 schools. How?. If the job was not done; you gave me a contract and I took the money and you refused to arrest me. You refused to report to anybody. You made me the D.G of your campaign to go and win for you.

“After winning, the man who refused to build 14 schools, the same man you recommend him to be Minister.

“Now that he is going, he is now saying ‘I gave him money to build 14 schools, he ate it’. Is that a human being.

He continued: “The Ghanian man you brought to do Landscaping of Port Harcourt. Your former Commissioner for Environment is here. We have the facts and the documents to back up what we are saying.

“I ask him, you say you were landscaping Port Harcourt. Which Port Harcourt are you landscaping?.

“The contractor you brought from Ghana, what made him to run away? Who took the money? Over N3billion- who took it? How do you even landscape Port Harcourt? Ask Amaechi.

Meanwhile, the Rivers state Government has maintained its stance that Nyesom Wike handled contracts in the state during his tenure as the Chief of Staff.

Current Chief of Staff, Tony Okocha said, “Nyesom Wike’s company called ‘Easy E’ did all the internal roads in Rumuepirikom, Eneka, Rukpokwu, these roads have all gone terribly bad and this is because he has no penchant to do a proper job.

“His penchant was to criminally acquire as much funds as he can into his own pocket.

“Wike was a member of the state Executive council and I am happy to note that O.K Chinda (former Commissioner for Environment) who is now one of his cronies and if there is anybody to ask this thing, it should be the Commissioner not the Governor of Rivers state.

“He could not have taken a decision to landscape Rivers state without bringing it to the table and a decision was reached, O.K Chinda was to Supervise it.

“Other details about the Landscaping of the state should be referred back to O.K Chinda who was the then Commissioner for Environment.

DailyPost recalls that the war of words between Governor Amaechi and Nysom Wike has generated a lot of reactions from loyalties of both parties.
